HVAC System Performance Testing by a National Comfort Institute Certified technician.
Air Balancing
In it’s simplist form, Air Balancing is the process of testing and
adjusting your air conditioning system to deliver the right
amount of air to each room in your home. The actual Air Balancing
process includes a number of related tests that determine
the performance of your air conditioning and heating
system. Air balancing hoods are used to measure the amount of
air at each grille. Manometers measure system pressures. Hygrometers
measure system temperature and humidity. The results
of all these tests are compiled into a report to determine
how well your system is functioning.
It’s not uncommon to find a system 30% to 50% low on airflow.
Air passes through the equipment and carries the heating or cooling
inside.
The effectiveness of the equipment is entirely dependent on the
amount of airflow. When your certified technician measures the airflow
he can "see" system performance. With this information he can
diagnose the duct system for maximum system
performance. The end result is rooms that are the same temperature,
cleaner air, better humidity control and real energy savings.

HVAC System Diagnostics & Air Balancing Service Six Step Process
Customer Interview - Nobody knows more about how well or poorly a system is working that the people living with it every day. We'll ask questions about the comfort levels in each area and about the air quality. We also ask about maintenance concerns they are experiencing and about health conditions such as asthma, allergies, and headaches that may be caused or made worse by conditions within the facility.
Facility Inspection - Our certified technician will perform a visual inspection of the entire facility looking for potential problems. The HVAC (heating and cooling) system is a major component in this inspection.
Measure System Performance - Next we'll measure exactly how your current heating and cooling system is performing. We'll measure your systems "static pressure" which helps us determine if there are comfort or energy wasting issues.
Then we measure the exact amount of air coming from each register. We encourage you to participate in this process so you can see data on your systems actual performance.
Rate Your System - With the data collected, we will use an exclusive calculation process to rate your current system's delivered efficiency.
The process will tell you what your current heating and cooling equipment is capable of and what percentage of the system is actually reaching the rooms. There is often a big difference between what the equipment is capable of doing and what your entire system is delivering.
Recommendations - Once we have all the facts together we can determine the best options to meet your comfort and efficiency requirements. We'll put together a proposal that typically outlines options and recommendations based on your specific needs and budgetary requirements.
Measure Results - Once the recommended work has been completed, the final step is to test the system to make sure if performs as recommended.
You will receive a report outlining the final performance of your system including delivered BTUs and efficiency as well as airflow to each room.
Even though this page is under construction, our service is available by a certified technician.
