2009 First Quarter Update
Katie Long Announcement February 2, 2009
Power
Vac America is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Long as
Manager of Marketing and GSA Administrator. Katie is the daughter of
Doug Long and joined the company in April of 2008. She is a cum
laude graduate of St. Thomas University in Houston with a BA degree
in history. With a strong academic background, Katie brings
organization, structure, youth, and new ideas to these positions.
Indoor Air Quality and
Hospitals by Katie Long -
Hospital infections kill
more Americans each year than AIDS, breast cancer and auto accidents
combined. Scarier still, about three of every 100 operations
performed in the United States are complicated by surgical site
infections. Compared with uninfected patients, patients developing
surgical site infections spend an additional 6.5 days in the
hospital, are more likely to be readmitted to the hospital, and are
more likely to die.
Holy Histoplasmois
Batman!!! by Katie Long - January 2009 is here and with it comes
new beginnings. The thought of a fresh start might make you want to
breathe a sigh of relief, but WAIT! Before you open
your mouth you might want to take a few moments to think about what
you’re actually exposing your lungs to. Those two spongy organs are
surrounded by a moist membrane that makes it easy for small
particles and spores to settle in and become problematic. Living in
a post-industrial society, contaminants in the air are part of daily
life which makes it crucial to be in control of your personal Indoor
Air Quality (IAQ) every chance you get.
IAQA and ACCA - What a
Combination
As a long time member of the Indoor
Air Quality Association (IAQA) and an even longer member of the Air
Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA), I cannot think of a
better match for a combined annual meeting.

Spring Break is here
and for most people that doesn’t really mean anything anymore. If
you have children you might identify it with the brood enjoying (or
whining about) an entire week away from school. Other people
associate Spring Break with sunny beaches and warm destinations.
Most people reading this probably think they are too busy or have
too much work to enjoy an entire week away from the office so close
to the beginning of the year.

It has been a busy 2009, but made easier with
Katie Long taking more responsibilities.
Please reference the first article.
Annual conferences, ACCA, IAQA and NADCA, are
always a welcome break after winter.
