Increasing Cooling and
Heating Efficiency
- EPA research
suggests that cleaning dirty cooling coils, fans and heat exchangers
can improve the efficiency of cooling and heating systems and lower
the energy costs you pay to keep your family cool in the summer and
warm in the winter.
- A properly and
thoroughly cleaned HVAC System, not just the air ducts, can reduce
the costs associated with running your air conditioning system and
increase the useful life of your HVAC equipment.
- An
American Society of
Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) study
concluded that maintaining HVAC system cleanliness in homes would reduce average operating costs by 10% to 25%.
-
According to the EPA, a build-up of .042 inches of dirt on a heating
or cooling coil can result in a decrease in an HVAC system
efficiency of 21%.
-
According to Louisiana Cooperative Extension Services (LCES), nine
out of 10 HVAC system failures are caused by dirt and dust.
-
The LCES also reports that clean systems restore capacity and lessen
running times. This means saving on your monthly electric
bill.
Duct Blaster Testing Services and Blower Door Testing Service
Air duct
leakage can increase heating and cooling costs over 30%.
The EPA
reported that most American houses have uncontrolled leakage that
varies wildly from one day to another, but on-the-average have 70%
to 100% of an air change per hour.
This “natural” air leakage averages 100% to 200% more
than the 35% of an air change per hour recommended for homes by
ASHRAE Standard #62-1989 “Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air
Quality”. Blower door and Duct Blaster testing can identify
these air leakages.
Power Vac
America
is a
certified member of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association and
licensed A/C contractor. Our cleaning process include the cleaning
of the the evaporator coils, the blower (fans) and heat exchanger as
recommended by all of the organizations mentioned above. Other
companies skip the evaporator coils leaving behind the dirt that keeps
your system operating inefficiently. An air conditioning system
that does not have all components cleaned during the duct cleaning
process will re-contaminate your ducts as soon as the systems is turned
on.
In addition to
energy efficiency and cost saving from a clean HVAC system, poor Indoor
Air Quality (IAQ) can effect your health. Health
